LOURDES J.

Female:
DOB: February 17th, 2001
Diagnosis: Mild retardation

Minor who is admitted at one month old and her brother who is two years older.

This little girl is adapted, she finished her preschool, however last semester, the directors asked to have her examined because
she presents behaviors that seem to present some kind of retardation. She is examined, an encephalogram was done. She does
present mental retardation and a special education is recommended. However in the baby house, they prefer that she goes to a
normal elementary school.

Lulú is admitted because they found her mother heavily intoxicated trying to sell her and her two year old brother.

Although she doesn’t report bad behavior, the educators make reference to her because of the behaviors presented, like
difficulty learning.

EVALUATION RESULTS:

Lourdes is a little girl that still presents a malnourishment state, during her stay in the institution she has not been able to
gain any weight. She often finds herself restless, due to a nasal congestion she suffers. In spite of this, the patterns of activities
according to her age are normal. In the observations and tests done we found the following results:
PSYCHOMOTOR:  Her movements are heavy and slow. One of the motor activities at this age is for her to keep her head
straight when lifted up, she doesn’t present this conduct.

LANGUAGE AREA:  In this area we observed that the minor doesn’t respond favorably to the auditory stimulation, however
she has achieved communication through her crying, characteristics of a normal baby.

SOCIAL AREA:  this little girl is a baby that reacts tranquilizing herself in the moment you talk to her or change her posture.
She is a little girl that loves to feel contact with people that surround her, the moment she sees that they are walking away she
tries to call their attention.

AFFECTIVE AREA:  Because of Lulú’s conduct, it is possible to discard the presence of an attachment disorder.
